~HER PARENT'S LOSS~

~HER PARENT'S LOSS~

A Poem by Jillian Alexis
"

This is a poem I wrote for a loved one, who experienced this horrific pain as a Child.

"
Previous Version
This is a previous version of ~HER PARENT'S LOSS~.

“When’s Mommy coming home”,

the Child asks her Dad;

He wasn't much of a Parent,

but he was all that she had.

 ~

He squeezes her small hand,

“She’s never coming back;

She doesn’t love you anymore,

because you’ve been so bad”!

      ~

Her lip's begin to quiver,

as her eye’s fill up with tears;

She looks down at the Sidewalk,

 her heart consumed with fear.

 ~

She jerks away from her Daddy,

and runs as fast as she can;

This is too much for a little girl,

to possibly understand.

 ~

When she reaches her run-down house,

 there's a car parked in the street;

 A strange man tries to pick her up,

as she cries, and kicks, and screams.

 ~

“You have to go with this nice man”,

Daddy tells his eight year old;

“He's come to take you far away,

to a lovely, all Girls Home” .

She sits in the back seat sobbing,

while her Daddy goes inside;

And as they quietly drive away,

a piece of her heart slowly dies.

Author's Note

Jillian Alexis
My Mother_IN_Law, whom I consider to be my real Mother, was taken away from her Parent's when she was eight yrs. old. She never became bitter, but rather, this experience served to make her even more compassionate and loving. This is dedicated to her, and to every Child who knows the pain she endured.
