~SEVEN DEADLY SINS~

~SEVEN DEADLY SINS~

A Poem by Jillian Alexis
"

I entered this in a contest. Please know that I am NOT speaking to anyone except myself. I am not here to bring Condemnation, to point any fingers, or to judge anyone. These are simply words that came to mind. I am in no position to judge anyone, except

"

~THE SEVEN, DEADLY SINS~

(LUST, GLUTTONY, GREED, SLOTH, WRATH, ENVY, AND PRIDE)

I’m not bringing Condemnation,

on how you choose to live;

For I too have committed,

the Seven, Deadly Sins!

God knows what’s in our Heart’s,

much better than we do;

And though we’ve done these things,

He still loves me and you.

This first Sin that I speak of,

Is a Cancer known as LUST;

It begins with just a thought,

then eats away at us.

 ~

Gluttony is also,

a Sin that’s on the list;

It can make one fat and selfish,

I know, for I’ve done this.

 ~

This Sin of which I write,

is known by all as GREED;

It causes many People,

to want more than they need.

 ~

Sloth is but another name,

for simply, laziness;

We sit all day while others slave,

I’ve done this, I’ll confess!

 ~

WRATH is never pleasant,

it is anger born of Hate;

It festers deep inside of us,

 spreading quickly, as a Plague.

 ~

ENVY is an ugly word,

an emotion we’ve all felt;

It makes us Covet what other’s have,

begrudging everyone else.

And last, but not the least,

is PRIDE, which we’ve all known;

It brings such feelings of shame and regret,

for things we do not own.

After reading this mind-numbing work of yours, I placed an international call right through to Hollywood, in search of the movie Director, David Fitcher, to let him know that he certainly missed a lot more detail in the script of that dark movie on his titled "Se7ven". Your poem surely would have gained more weight to have heard it coming off the lips of that Kevin Spacey's character.

hey this sounds like a great way to teach people (mostly kids) what not to do in a sunday school or something. Very good! :D I too admit I've commited these sins as well-- especially right now, wrath. Im so angry at this kid at school, but it's really hard to burry the anger which festers though me. Theyre all so easy to commit yet so hard to contain.

Well stated. The rhyme was a bit stiff, but the message was loud and clear. Well done. If you get a chance (and you haven't already) check out my song/poem "The Skin of Sin".
