UNIQUENESS ...... like no other

Under the beauty of your skin

lies a heart filled with pure gold

testimony of the person within

from what people say i am told

 

Except it was different back then

remembering the thing you said

Outcast by your so called friend

hard to deal with when only ten

 

Bullied  during your childhood

scared to say how it made you feel

Locked away inside your head

an overwhelming  pain so real

 

It wasn't long before you learn

children say the cruelest things

Sticks and stones break bones

and name calling hurt feelings

 

Older and so much wiser now

educated with a bright future

The memory of your childhood

friend has made you stronger

 

You’ve blossomed into a beauti-

full butterfly your flying high

Your uniqueness surpasses you

It’s your beauty no one can deny

 

Never let anyone put you down

You have a right to your existence

A blessing that is so profound

noticed whenever in your presence...

 

 

 

 

Author's Note

A conversation I had with my gorgeous niece (see picture) when she was much younger inspired this write. She definitely is much older and wiser and beautiful and UNIQUE..

Love her dearly......

What a great tribute poem for her. Bully's never know the damage they do. It's like an illness of deceit and denial of their deeds.. This was written with a loving pen..for as you said a beautiful and unique soul.. :) xo

I often wonder what might have damaged the bullys in the first place for them to be so cruel. My beautiful niece is testimony that you can move forward from such deeds. We all need a 'guardian angel' to guide us and keep us from harm... I've loved being my nieces..even now.

What a beautiful conversation and appreciation of her unique qualities which can apply to any blooming young person to their potential and blessing in life. Adults have to show them the way but they have to tread eventualy on it and find their destiny.
