I want to be pretty.

Pretty, from surgery

So my mind can’t see

All of the dismay

That I feel every day.

 

I want to be different.

I want to still be me

Without all the agony.

The only price I pay

Is stripping my skin away.

 

I want to change.

The doctors know best

How to put my mind to rest.

Surgically set me free

So I can be bubbly.

 

It finally stopped.

I can’t feel pain anymore;

My heart is no longer sore.

My life was infected,

But it’s been perfected.

All the nips and tucks will never matter unless you feel good/pretty from the inside. That starts with believing in yourself that you are worthy and relevant, and that everyone is beautiful, in their own way. Just like the poems we write, not everyone likes every single thing we create, but out there someone will just love everything you write, because to them its gorgeous, and it touches and moves them. Just like this lovely piece that brings all such things to mind. Look for the person who's heart, is beautiful. With them, you will find the most happiness.

hmm, very interesting indeed. im not familiar with the works this is based on. but i will say it had me thinking. at first i thought the piece refered to a physical change, like plastic surgery, then i wasnt so sure, and at the end i felt it was something deeper. im not a big poetry guy, but at any rate its what i got from it. very nicely done :)
