A Heart Of Scars

A Heart Of Scars

A Poem by Dwain Dowdy
"

Taking a blind risk for happiness with an abused broken soul

"

Are you willing to reach for the stars
Taking a chance on something unknown?
Knowing that it could mean fulfillment
Or mean losing your comfortable throne

Will you continue pushing forward
To reach out further still?
Tempting fate to deal one last blow
Against your ironclad will

Reaching the stars you continue on
To an old battered reinforced door
You're tired it's true but you never quit
Your faith is struggling for sure.

But the door swings open by someone inside
That someone happens to be me
I remind you of what you left for this quest
Will soon be just a memory

I'm calling out to you wanting your touch
My lonely heart is in need
But a worthy heart it is just the same
My pure Picses soul to be freed

So tell me if this unknown chance
You took for me through the stars
Is worth staying behind this battered door
Loving me, and this Heart of Scars.

This is unbelievably precious! I don't even go for romantic writing, but this one really feels earnest & persuasive. Sometimes a demanding plea-like piece of writing can feel overbearing to me, as if one is trying to form feelings to fit our will & expectations. But your plea feels lighthearted & convincing with good details expressed in interesting imagery (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
