Understand

Guilt, anxiety, hopelessness,

Nobody knows them better than I.

Why can’t she understand that I’ve been there?

I’ve stayed up late with fears of the future,

I’ve cried myself to sleep because of unbearable guilt,

But she says that I’m just faking.

Why can’t she understand?

 

Hours of hopelessness,

Days of despair

Have cut me down,

Have made me weak.

She doesn’t know. No one knows.

They have no right: they wouldn’t understand.

 

Nobody cares, everyone is a liar,

There’s no more trust in this world.

Everyone’s out there to bring down someone else,

To make themselves seem superior.

I’ve been there,

I’ve dealt with that,

But it’s a tough road travelled alone.

 

She will never understand.

Wow.. now who doesn't understand these feelings at some point? Very well penned full of energy..sad but part of life. Trust is a hard thing.. it's hard to know who is genuinely there as part of a support system and who is trying to bring one down. Sometimes people think they are helping.. using old techniques "tough love".. just doesn't work as well as it used to.

Everyone needs a friend.. and these days more than ever..don't ever give up.. great writing full of emotions that many can understand I think these days more than ever before. Being a teenager is even harder.. I applaud you on this poem.. it's more full of strength than you know being so full of honesty and creativity showing a really strong passionate heart beating through!
