Crying Sunflowers

Crying Sunflowers

A Poem by RFE

Stop crying, you’re driving me mad

Bleeding eyes, a messed up vision

Maybe I do cry sunflowers

Beautiful tears of sadness and joy

Of happiness and death

Of stupid mistakes, I’ve made

When I break down I get impulsive

Life is too short

yet too long at the same time

I dream about leaving everything behind sometimes

Of running away and living alone in a little village by a stream

Of having genuine connections with people and learning to love

Everything so far has felt like I’ve been taking a long sip of sleepy tea

You’ve taught me so much about myself and the person I need to become

Maybe one day I can show you what it's like to be truly happy

Flower petals and crystal clear water puts me in a state of  happiness and content

And when you’ve said, “I love you” one too many times it tastes like you’ve just  run a scalpel across your forehead still wheezing for air

But everyone knows that

Let it go and breath in the night air with me

And then we’ll finally be okay

It's time to chug the rest of the tea and fall asleep

This sounds as though you have 'girded your loins' and are all ready to make a better future, after an honest acknowledgement of past mistakes. You tell this poem with great emotion and there are some lovely word pictures .... 'a long sip of sleepy tea', 'flower petals and crystal clear water', 'breathe in the night air with me'. May your future be bright. The world is a beautiful place, even though we might just get occasional glimpses.
