Slightly Desensitized

Slightly Desensitized

A Poem by Rac7hel

such a burden off my shoulders
to plug my ears
no music comes through these things
no silence either.
what I hear now is the same
as what I heard before
only muffled.
but now
now...
you think I can't hear you
and you won't talk to me.

it's like taking a walk
with dark sunglasses on
when you pass someone
you avoid all the pressure of eye contact
you can stare them in the eyes the whole time
they won't look at you
because they can't see your eyes
and they think you might be staring at them.
