Queen

Queen

A Poem by Rachel Grace
"

A take on telling stories that most people never think about

"

She breathes onto the ink

And they live

They dance; they laugh; they cry

Whole worlds are trapped inside

She bleeds into the page

And it is born

A fantasy, a tragedy, a legacy

She writes the story of you and me

She cries her tears into the scenes

And the voices are heard

Soft, loud, broken, real

And her pain we feel

She dies in the book

And parts of her live only there

Forgotten, separate, lost to her

The price of the magic she must work

I tell you why for me this poem is magic. When someone asks a creative person how they create and design their art/writings/music many talk in riddles. This poem describes the life of a book you have created and built From start to finish. I am not sure if this is what you intended, regardless I rate this very very highly. I love it and urge others to read and review!!!

I like the feel of this....the opening stanzas were very strong and and led to an ending that one could not get mad about. You were cheated in the end just an acceptance of reality and that makes the reader satisfied and not cheated.

Reminds me of the old japanese folktale of the Crane Wife: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsuru_no_Ongaeshi

Which of course is tied to one of my favorite albums ever:

One of my favorite sentiments is that, even when you die, the legacy you leave, and the bonds, and connections you made, and your name, will live on for at least another full generation for others to learn from. It's how legends are born, and how history is made. Your poem is worded very simply and concisely, but it could just as easily be fleshed out further, there's a lot of thematic baggage (not a bad thing) here to work with. Cheers!

Whole worlds are trapped inside of everything we pen.

Each story we tell holds a piece of our own soul.

Thank you for sharing.
