"Unfinished Dreams" Author : Ralph Marston

A Poem by Ralph Marston
"

a story of loosing ones Father, at such a young age.

"

           Unfinished Dreams

Unfinished dreams, was the way my Father left me....,

Unfinished dreams, is what my life turned out to be...,

broken hearts, failed dreams and time lost with my family.

unfinished songs, that I never wrote....,

unfinished promises..., are my Unfinished Dreams.

"You know...I still remember watching you sleeping and holding you so"

I've been trying so hard, to do what's right...,

it has taken me so long, just to see the bright lights.

but I still have.., all my Unfinished Dreams to fill.

promises that are hollow, if their not filled,

each one of us say...

I want to be happy, Woo... sun will shine.

hearts that have been broken before, will mend and love again.

like the flowers that were planted...last spring.

I'll leave so many Unfinished Dreams, as my Dad did...a long time ago.

Unfinished Dreams, was the way my Father left me....,

Unfinished Dreams, is what my life turned out to be.

broken hearts, failed dreams and time lost with my family

and now as I turn out my lights, I think to myself...

what if tonight, I go off into that "shinning lights"....

I'll leave so many Unfinished Dreams, to go.

as my Father did a long time ago.

I've been trying so long, to do what's right....,

it's so hard, to walk that narrow road.

it's taken me so long, just to see the bright lights,

now I don't know..., which way to go.

I'll leave so many Unfinished Dreams..,

as my Dad did...a long time ago.

"You know", I still remember watching you sleeping..

and holding you so.

as my Father did..., a long time ago.

Emotionally poignant piece of work. The last stanza was very powerful. I love how it completed what hadn't been finished being said earlier. Thanks for sharing this piece ^^
