Creature of Habit, Beast of Burden

Creature of Habit, Beast of Burden

A Poem by Hitchhiker

a cobweb in the back of
my psyche
is claiming my attention
somewhere I hear phony laughter
so I lit up
smoked it with a huge amount of sin

light 'em up dope
you have no hope

I might be shallow
as I've been told
one thing I'm not buster
coward's the word
won't find me cowering in the corner
when the s**t starts

I can't help it
I pitch a fit

the hound of fear
abounds
gotta brush that cobweb away
hate cobwebs
their touch
sticky and personal

what did I say
before I strayed

life kicks you in the gut
bloodies and breaks bones
it can kick your a*s ninety ways to one
but
it can't break your spirit
unless you let it

I'm telling you
what you can do

as you are abused
jerked around
punked out
don't let 'em get your mind
you need that
for badass retaliation

you’ll make them pay
some cold, gray day

not trying to be bad
a superdude I ain't
but I know one thing
been down some roads
take crap if you have to
but keep your mind free

with thought you can
make new game plans
