Saudade

Saudade

A Poem by Robin
"

between the scattered pages

"
in the silence
I see
the flashes
of mystery
between the scattered pages
of the story
of my heart
I have this:
truth
my love
instincts driving
the sacrificial need
burned into my soul
these words I bear
this undeniable  desire
the crushing weight
of the poetry
of lonely nights
my sin:
devotion

my solace:
the mundane
sound of water
time be still
this longing
the silent sound
I feel
between each breath
            saudade

The "beauty" of language is all the more evident when you can define a "feeling" as being characteristic of a regional cultural diversity ...but... does one have to be of that "regional cultural diversity" OR from that particular region OR even - well, I think you get my drift ... to understand and be fully aware of that depiction?

So many words attached to heritages are seldom politically correct word usages whether racially or gender charged ...anymore. A rose is NOT a rose by any other name - in these times.

I liked the soft flow of the thoughts this one brought to mind.

'Saudade' is a word that I recently discovered and made a mental note to write a poem around it. Small world to stumble across your poem. This just serves as an affirmation to continue with my intent.

Your poem is nature's bliss, a salve for the soul, and peace for the mind. Lovely!

You write from such a beautiful and honest place in your heart...Indeed, from the pure silence of your mind and soul. Loved your words, especially ' In the silences I see flashes of mystery'...
