Smiling gravely

Smiling gravely

A Poem by R.Inc$
"

Puncture my lungs and watch the poison flow free

"
I breathe in her lies and spontaneously combust.
My charred and shattered remains fade away.
They have become nothing but ashes and dust in the wind.
Her contented, guiltless eyes grow listless, as her toy is no more.
However, she shouldn't be as daring as to believe that she is entitled to a tear.
The toxicity of her words poisoned my truth, crippled it, and made it feeble.
My heart has become weary as venom pools in my lungs, forcing them to collapse.
What a less than meager existence I have lived, or is this even living?
Sadly, I wasn't even led on, I followed willingly.
I didn't even fall for her, for love never even crossed my mind as an option.
I have no excuses and no right to complain.
Simply to say, "I mistakenly thought that I could make no mistakes."
Now I stare up at a my coffin sky, smiling in my own shallow grave,
which was dug with my own ignorance.
My last words to this wicked and wisdom-less world, as I lie down into darkness:
"A life a little less than worth living shouldn't be mistaken for death."
