At a loss

Sun beats down upon snow-capped mountains

Offering candied images of untouched beauty

Miniscule when compared to a plethora of grotesqueness

Ever present within the confines of your mind

They strip you of your charming naivety

Irrevocably obliterating all traces of elegance

Meaningless is the effervescent spirit

Erased from your intangible DNA

Silently it suffocates at the hands of darkness

 

Incoherent whispers of despair echo feverishly

 

Asking for a cure that is impossible to find

Mumbling cryptic messages with immeasurable passion

 

Trembling fingers take hold of bare skin

Embedding sharp nails in soft fragility   

Retreating only when nervousness ceases

Relentlessly you dig further inside

Incontrollable is the desire to feel normalcy

Blood spills from freshly created wounds

Leaving pale indents that replicate your emotions

You hold steady through hot strikes of pain

 

Sleep overcomes a once unbreakable woman

Artificial tranquility infects fractured bones

Deprived from bliss you close blood-stained eyes

 

(And hope for nothing)

                (Because it doesn’t exist)
