Daddy Please "The Conversation"

Daddy Please "The Conversation"

A Poem by Becky
"

I was sitting in the truck and we passed a pet shop. I got to imagining what a conversation between a smitten father and his cute little girl.

"
Daddy, can I please have him?
I don't know sweetheart,
he will be a lot of responsiblity.
It doesn't matter daddy. I am
a lot of responsibility and you still love and
take care of me.
Sweetheart, there is a big difference between the two.
I know but, please daddy
please may I have him?
He will need lots of love and attention.
Daddy I already love him.
he is so cute. He has big floppy ears, and
such watery green eyes.
I agree that he is very cute sweetheart,
but you are so very young for such a big job.
Oh daddy, look he is waving
at me. Daddy I will play with him, always daddy.
So can I please have him daddy?
He will grow up to be very big.
Will his ears still be floppy?
And will his tail still wag when he sees me?
If you love him enough
i already love him more than
my favorite teddy. (She had to whisper or her teddy would hear)
Really? That much huh?
Well, why don't we make a deal.
What kind of deal daddy?
Well if you promise me on teddy's little
stuffed life that you will feed, bath, walk and love him, you can have him.
Oh daddy thank you so much!
What will you name your new friend?
I will name him after my biggest hero.
Who is your biggest hero then?
It's you silly!
