Remember November

A Poem by Kitty Kirkpatrick
"

This isn't really a poem, but poem is the closest to what it is than the other options. It's actually a song. 'Remember November' is a song about my mother; she died November 7th, 2003.

Title

Remember November

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Verse 1

I remember when

All those men

Came to our home

I remember when

One of those men

Gave me that toy

I remember November

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Chorus

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us?

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us

Do you remember November?

Do you ever remember November?

Will you always remember November?

Verse 2

It was November 7th, 2003

I was only a little tyke of three

I was scared out of my mind

And didn’t understand anything

I was too young to understand

But I understand now that I’m sixteen

I understand November

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Chorus

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us?

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us

Do you remember November?

Do you ever remember November?

Will you always remember November?

Verse 3

I don’t really remember much

Only bits and pieces of that memory

But now it haunts me so

And I always use that memory

In all of my new stories

That I love to write so much

I always remember November

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Chorus

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us?

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us

Do you remember November?

Do you ever remember November?

Will you always remember November?

Verse 4

Everyone tells me to be strong

You tell me to suck it up

Everyone sugar coats everything

You tell me the truth

Everyone hates you

But I love you

Do you ever remember November?

Like I do?

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Chorus

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us?

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us

Do you remember November?

Do you ever remember November?

Will you always remember November?

Pre-Chorus

The worst memory of all

The one that’s haunted my dreams

Since that day, that one day

When I was three years old

The one that’s haunted all my dreams

Chorus

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us?

Do you remember November?

Do you remember when she was taken away from us

Do you remember November?

Do you ever remember November?

Will you always remember November?

If there are grammar errors, I apologize; I've edited this song multiple times and I might have missed something. What do you think? Could this really be my debut song? I hope this is the one, but I have others, so maybe one of them could be the one.

Dealing with loss is a terrible burden but must be even more so at such a tender age. I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, your song is both sweet and sad.
