Illusionist

Illusionist

A Poem by Jessica
"

I don't know who I am.

"

Verse 1

I never thought this far in life I’d be so confused

I look inside myself and still find that recluse

Waking up from dreams I long to go back to

Sleep has always been a friend but is something I should refuse

Chorus

Pull me inside out

With a surgeon’s hands and a poet’s heart

Search the madness and take away the dark

Help me find myself again

If she is truly lost and no matter the cost

Breathe dragon’s fire and take away the frost

Verse 2

I never thought my internal shade would be green

Desiring what others have and not truly knowing what I need

With age comes wisdom but all I can see

A black decaying cyst growing selfishness inside of me

Bridge

People only see a representation of yourself

And I can play better than anybody else

“What you see is what you get”

And I’ve been deemed the greater illusionist

Author's Note

Jessica
Sometimes I write poetry in the form of song lyrics. This is one example. I am not a musician but I would like to think the melody would be reminiscent of Pvris.
