My Hero

My Hero

A Poem by Jessica
"

For my father

"
My hero is not a saint
He is a sinner at best
But the smile he would put on your face
Could spread warmth inside your chest

My hero, he doesn't look like much
Just an ordinary man
But for all those people you and I would judge
He'd put out a comforting hand

My hero is not strong
At least not in the way you would expect
But his soul is so powerful
One the Devil tries so hard to infect

My hero is not perfect
He caused my heart to bruise
But all his transgressions I will always acquit
He is someone I never want to lose

Because My hero is only human
Made up of blood and skin and bone
Although he struggles with his demons
He will never walk alone
