Shadow by my side

Shadow by my side

A Poem by Roberta Weth
"

old poem I had to search my backups for

"

Screeching electric beeps
Call me out
Of my warm cocoon of sleep
Purple leopard sheets and bedspread
Twisted so perfectly
Gravity increases it's pull
As I drag myself out
To greet another day
Grey skies and frozen rain
I clothe myself in personality
And string my faith about my neck
Next to my identity
My Eagle Point ID badge proclaims
That I belong here
I rush to do my chores
On my way out I take
A little index card from a stack
Gods WORD in bite size
"The Lords Loving kindnesses indeed never cease for they are new every morning, Great is thy faithfulness"
My duty to God done
I race out the door
To life and the world
Leaving the little index card
On the floor.

I like how you list your morning activies, but make it so much more than simply a list. There's a sense of carefree hurrying throughout, much like mornings are for most of us. The last line is a perfect coda to everything you've written before. Great job.
