What does it mean to be a soldier...?

 

Flame of War

 

Rage and anger, hatred and pure vengeance,

That is what I feel, that is what I am.

I am a flame of war, a being of chaos and destruction,

I am called once again into battle, to fight my enemies.

I am strong, ever ready, and will fight till my last breath,

For I have a duty to fulfill, a purpose to drive me.

I will vanquish my enemies, I will defeat this evil,

I will slay my demons, both within and without.

The anguish that consumes me is my fuel, my fire,

My darkness is a force of pure terror, none shall withstand it.

I am a warrior, a fighter until the bitter end, true to it all,

I will fight for my freedom, for my comrades, for my country.

I am the soldier, I am one among many, but I have my own reasons to fight,

I will defend my family and all that I love, I will do whatever it takes.

My only wish is to return home, to see their faces again, even if only once more,

All I need to keep going is to think of them, of the love that I have for them.

My foes will feel the fire of that love, the fire I use to defend that love,

My comrades will feel the fire of that love, the fire I use to defend them.

I am a flame of war, and I will march ever onward, for all that I cherish,

I will never give up the fight, even if it lasts an eternity.

Thank you. I have always respected soldiers, and admire what they do every day for us. I myself have never been in service, but I know some that have served, and I know that they go through a lot.
