Machine Gun

Machine Gun

A Poem by Zeitgeist Manifesto
"

find your own... A tribute to a song that inspired me. (Machine Gun) It is regarded by many musicians as one of the best songs of it's era. It's every artist's dream to have a crowning achievement.

"

When I was a Teenager
Machine gun met my Ears
I fell in love with that sound
The perfect merger of man
and Machine

A triumph of the human spirit
Inspired by what man can create
Confused with the obsession to destroy

I set out on a journey
To find a Machine Gun of my own

Someday on my death bed
My life will come to a close
I hope to have my own Machine Gun
Lying beside me

A  milestone to leave behind

Maybe Machine Gun's sound
Keeps me going

I pray that every one of you here
Finds your own Machine Gun

Puncture the souls of many
Patch the hole with a scrap of your own
Live on forever

When the flesh returns to dust

Machine gun,
tearin' my body all apart.
Machine gun,yeah,
tearin' my body all apart.
Evil man make me kill you.
Evil man make you kill me.
Evil man make me kill you,
even though were only families apart.
Well,I pick up my axe and fight like a farmer,
You know what I mean?
Weh,hey, and your bullets keep knockin' me down.
Hey,I pick up my axe an' fight like a farmer, now,
yeah, but you still blast me down to the ground.
The same way you shoot me baby,
you'll be goin' just the same, three times the pain.
And with your own self to blame, machine gun!

I ain't afraid of your bullets no more, baby.
I ain't afraid no more.
After awhile, your, your cheap talk won't even cause me pain,
so let your bullets fly like rain.
'Cause I know all the time your wrong, baby,
and you'll be goin' just the same.
Machine gun,tearin' my family apart.
Hey yeah,alright,tearin' my family apart.

PeP TaLk!! Keep up the great work everyone.
"Machine Gun" is known widely as Hendrix's crowning achievement.
I wish you all luck finding your own.

Enjoy the tune. Its long..but worth it.
If you listen closely..its a duet. The guitar sings lyrics as well.

Stupid trivia: A reporter at the Filmore described the battle sounds of the song as "feeling like being bombarded by "Heavy Metal" raining from the sky." That reporter may have been the one that gave the name to the genre. lol

-- an energy bomb of a poem, mr. rellis... -- a shot of support and encouragement for anyone's who is reading... -- the writing is very earnest and spirit... perhaps a bit like your teenager self... -- fabulous work... and here's to heavy metal remaining as heavy and as metallic as it must be...

I like this poem. Could be a good rock and roll music. The flow of this poem was amazing. A poem that would be fun to read a loud. I like the story and the internal battle to see logic in this world. Poem is outstanding.
