SECOND WIND

SECOND WIND

SECOND WIND
A Poem by Rene Velez

I'm looking for steps to begin again.
I must have pissed off God again.
I walk these dark streets without a friend.
Rewriting myself without a pen.

Change will never ask when,
searching internally for my second wind.
From the things I've seen to the places I've been.
Welcome to the follies of a wordsmith comedian.

I've tossed foreign coins in a wishing well
and karma bought me hell.
In my silent yell, in my silent spell,
I wait for life and death to gel.

I am a rebel. I like to rebel.
In this holding cell, I call a body.
One day I will be worthy.

Lastly, I call no clergy.
In this walk I seek no mercy.

I have walk this walk often. Took me many years to forget that I'm not important. I watch my grandsons sit at my feet. My blessings are my children and what I try to do. I like this poem. Took me back when I was trying to find a reason to live.
"changes never ask when, this I leave to wiser men
as I search internally for my second wind
the thought of a win tossed in the waste bin
foolish thoughts are a lonely sin for all to see
follies of a naked wordsmith comedian"
Thank you for the amazing poem.

You mastered the rhyme scheme Rene. I loved this, you really draw me into poems that rhyme because I stink at them.

You, sir, as a master of rhyme. Excellent stuff, Rene, excellent.

What really struck me about this poem was your rhyme scheme. I loved it! I just really like the rhyming poems. This isn't my kind of genre of poetry to read though, so I won't call this my favorite piece of work - but don't take it from me. There are people in the world who like your poetic styles and if I find them I will be sure to pass this poem onto them.
The imagery was wonderful, it gave me a sense of content.

depending on oneself and no one else and not begging for mercy. Excellent!

I must say the rhyme scheme in this piece is intrict and extremely complex, however you make is flow perfectly so the reader is again at ease. I love the lines "I tossed foreign coins in a wishing well
and karma bought me hell, I find no second wind", it negates the presence in all of us to remember the will of forces unseen, a great read.
