The only beauty secret you will ever need

The only beauty secret you will ever need

A Poem by Rhiannon Dragonraine

Amazing to think : two months ago I hit that first adult milestone
The quarter of a century; the big two;five
My how the days, months, and years have flown
Nearly seems impossible that's how long I've been alive.

And yet it has taken this long to feel comfortable in my own skin
and the image in the mirror to look like me again
while reminising and reliving old memories
It feels as if they were the images of someone else's fancies

But now I have awoken in my own real life
grown into a mother, sister, friend and loving wife
These roles are the one's made for me
as I never felt like a child meant to cling to her dolly

The mind that never fit the child's face in the mirror
now finds it's own adult face reflected here
Through the magic of modern hair dye
my hair now matches the color I've seen in my mind's eye

Born into a foreign body that never felt like home
through the years I've molded, shaped it: made it my own
and here I reside for all to see
Finally at peace with the being that is me

And though I am not the modern age's ideal of beauty
my body, stretched from motherhood has served its natural duty
and that, dear friends, is where I find
the true ideal of beauty is outlined

So worry not when child bearing and life adds a few pounds
and as you grow older your body tends to round
For this is the gift of womanhood
Regardless of what other's say look good

Why waste our time when skinny is just a trend
Judging ourselves by other's guidelines is something we must transcend
The truly important question to ask
Is why we feel it necessary to wear society's mask?

In twenty-five years I have learned alot
one of the most important is that true beauty can't be bought
It comes through our ages
as we traverse through life's many stages

Listen well, ladies as I give you the only beauty secret you'll ever need:
Thin, plump, short, tall and round
We are all beautiful indeed
For our bodies are not us; they are simply vessels, destined to return to the soul of the ground

Our true beauty lies deep within
The real secret to being beautiful and sexy: is being comfortable in your own skin.

So true and well put "The real secret to being beautiful and sexy: is being comfortable in your own skin."
Your confidence shines from the eyes, and it is this combined with the truth of you, that shows the reality of your beauty....

Nice poem, I adore it..
