Familiar Thief

Familiar Thief

A Poem by PayNoMind
"

An unapologetic lament of the eldest sibling.

"

That ache I feel

Stinging in my chest

Watching you have what I never got

That fading of guilt

Disappearance of shame

Of forgiveness I was never granted

Every torn page

Shattered glass

Chipped dinner plate
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven

Have you no shame?
Of what you stole
The unconditional joy and love
That I won’t ever receive

Because of you I am alone
Wallowing in guilt
Drowning in shame
Unable to forgive myself
For breathing out of habit
