Life is a competition, and it seems that I have lost.

How are you

Fine, thanks

And what of you, how goes your life?

"Good!" says you, and I force a smile
To accept that I have failed again
In the competition of life

I have fallen behind
A failure, a disappointment
The first attempt
Never having planned to be

Successful
Happy
Content

Maybe, if I had planned
Instead of perfecting my final note
I would be elsewhere

Anywhere but here

Away from your gloats

And prideful grins
