I take the stand

I take the stand

A Poem by Eduardo Reyes
"

In honor of the Men and Women who serve their country's military to keep their country safe.

"
I take the stand
To protect my country,
In front of danger I land.
I mean it literally,
I go above it all
To have a brawl
With my rifle.
Don't get your mind full,
I am a man with a gun
Doing what most would never have done.
I'm a man with a knife
Cutting the dangers away,
For all to be safe.
Give thanks everyday.

"I take the stand

"I'm a man with a knife

I really enjoyed the confident grit of those first lines, which I represent the mindset of a soldier and the knife metaphor is very original perspective.

It's nice, but I think some parts could do with some work. I wholeheartedly support your sentiment (but would naturally attribute it to British Forces).
