The Perfect Gift

The Perfect Gift

A Poem by Panhead Rod
"

A poem reflecting feelings felt for loved ones who have passed on...

"
...
Do we trap lost souls,
by mourning them too long ?
Does the grief put them in chains,
binding them too strong ?
...
Does depression keep them down ?
Are they feeling low ?
If we only kept warm thoughts,
it'd surely help them glow...
...
They must feel our pain,
and know that we're troubled...
Realize their situation...
Their concerns have doubled...
...
What now can we do...
to set their spirits free ?
Take the pressure off from them...
and fill their souls with glee...
...
Honor them for who they were...
Give their essence lift...
Remember all those smiles shared...
From them... the perfect gift...
...
Always keep them in your heart...
Sharing memories deep...
When those memories bring warm thoughts...
those you sure must keep...
...
With their spirit soul set free...
they can give you guidance...
Watching over you from Heaven...
peaceful with love's silence...
...

Your poem moved me. It beautifully captures grief and loss with such striking imagery. I love the reflection on the emotional state of the departed. “Do we trap souls by mourning them too long?” So thought-provoking but painful to consider.
