You don't smile as much as you used to

You don't smile as much as you used to

A Poem by RomaineCoppola

We all want to be someone we can recognize when we fall asleep at night.
Picking through the sinew of the day;
chewing the fat;
flossing the grizzle.

You never have as much money as you think,

and you never have as many friends as you wish,

and you don't smile as much as you used to.

I'm not a greeter, but welcome to the site. I like the look of your poem and how you started with a coherent thought, then ended with three individual statements. I think we all can relate as we age and the sacrifices we make contradict who we think we are. We all want to give the finger to the corporation we work for and write more, but money don't make itself. Good write. CD

Honest words written with care and feeling. There are times when there's a shadow across the mind.. but in your case, it's created soething recognisably and utterly human.

Awesome line.
Great work!
