Spades

Spades

A Poem by Rose Damone

Light the torch
Be careful not to scorch
My soul in the process, for it is frail
Gather the masses and prepare to impale
Our hearts are upon a stake
Our progeny at the bottom of the lake
Our bodies burn on the pyre
Our flesh is eaten away by the fire
And the renegade angels lead our way
To further stages of decay
They lead us down the path of sorrow
And knowing there will never be a tomorrow
Grab your hatchets, sharpen the blade
Behold me, for I am the Queen of Spades.
