Promises

Promises

A Poem by Ross Saunders
"

An in progress piece I started at work...

"

I made a promise to you today,

some disgraced decree in the dark.

Maybe I'll tell you about it.

Maybe.

Okay.

Truth be told,

I'm not sure what I promised.

So many promises...

Maybe I promised not to be a b*****d.

Maybe I promised to give you a flower every time we meet.

Maybe I promised to hold you every time you start to slip.

Maybe I promised to keep up when you run away.

Maybe I promised to save the world for you.

No.

Maybe I made the only promise that matters:

Not to make promises I can't keep.

Woah! This is really good, sometimes we are best to do so...to make a promise is deemed as sacred, to some, this really lets the reader feel the letdown if not carried out!
Excellent love xoxo
