Hallow Words

Hallow Words

A Poem by Roxie Martelli
"

I was going through a point in time where I felt like nothing I said anymore had any meaning. Standing in school saying this pledge that, I felt everyone, including myself, had no clue to what it even meant to people who've actually fought for it. I felt

"

Hallow Words. Its all I see,

Empty pledges to a Nation who

has a messed up policy.

Making tiny waves in a place

that has no sea, Hallow

words that are dry, no feeling

I won't say it anymore

I won't say anything anymore

That has no feeling.

Make my words complete

Make my life something to see.

Give me reason to speak.

Please----

When confronted with ,"empty", acts
of patriotism,
Remember those who left to stay the enemy,
Those who do not return
Those who rot in foreign dirt, so that
we may question the motives of our land.
Our real friends have passed,
Now we are the friends of man.
