Birdies

Birdies

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

When birds burp, it must taste like bugs. Bill Watterson

"

The clear song of the early wren

trills between the wake up sounds,

from hedges, bush and to fascine

it looses his sharp vibrato cheer,

looking through my little pane,

I see a robin sitting notes to sing,

auburn, orange, he blows his whistle,

my morning is open, my day begins

again but still so new, I see the silver lines

on and through the spider’s web, trembling,

on the corner of the gutter a sparrow trots,

staccato but light-hearted, the twittering,

I hear their song ringing in my heart

hum on the rhythm of this little poem

before I even see them, I feel them in my head,

the birdies, which make me leave my bed.

I'm so glad for you, Anna. Happy you liked it too. :) Rudi
The study of birds: You made my night, I love them so much Rudi. For my whole life and this poem is so absolutely beautiful, beautiful. I said it aloud, and I know Glen liked it too. It is so wonderful. Wow. You are such a great poet. I have a thrusher here, a new experience for me; he hisses at me; it's funny! They run...brown, large, with gorgeous white spots on his chest, he's did it 3 times and I say, I'm leaving - Before I even see them, I feel them in my head...lovely. And they are. Have loads of bird stories. Your poem is unreal. Thank you. Dale

I agree. Sounds of bird make us want to come alive.

Your poem made me wish for the days of Spring and the return of the singing birds. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you John, for passing by and reading my poem. Have a good day, my friend. :) Rudi
Well I would be somehwat lying if I did not confess to have an attraction for the Raven or birds with similar attitude. Really when it comes down to it the birds are all about seeing from a very ignorant standpoint of view that is. I associate that with bearing witness. Ultimately related humanly to the sense of "sight" not suprisingly then some old paintings chracterising the human being in many animal parts and then the head region would consequently be depicted by the bird. It is a slightly weird take on the write I do know but your words seem to spark that on me.

Thank You.

and right now i see them and feel them in my mind, even though it is a stark, empty, cold landscape of winter...
but the birds are coming, and i will eventually be leaving my bed.

really nice imagery in this...a breath of spring during single digit days.
