O M G

O M G

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere

O M G

Oh my God,

The first words that come to my mind

When I see those horror images

That have plunged France into mourning

I pray every day for my family to be safe,

Today I feel guilty because

I didn’t pray for them who have died in Paris.

Where were you, my God?

I’ve learned as a young boy you’re everywhere.

Where were you on Friday the thirteenth?

How can you allow this to happen?

Have we deserved this?

Are we not worthy anymore?

Are we to busy with ourselves,

Pushed by financial gain and power?

How do I place this?

How do the brother, the sister and the family,

The friends of the dead can give it a place?

Where were you my God, why have you left us?

Very sad state and sad poem too. We ask the same question when plunged into a difficult situation and only God knows the answer, I know he was there, He is here and that is the only consolation. The Devil sometimes is so much at work and all we need to do is pray and pray and pray without going tired because all the battles are won on our knees.

Your need to write this poem comes across very well. But it is the eternal question for so many, 'where were you, my God'. Good for you for writing it.

Thank you so much for reading my poem. :) Rudi
Your words are true.
"How do the brother, the sister and the family,
The friends of the dead can give it a place?
Where were you my God, why have you left us?"
I have known lost. But lost of people enjoying the night life of Paris and who did not come home. Like 9-11 in the USA. This attack left a scar that won't go away. Leaders who treat this as a simple thing. Are weak. Thank you my friend for sharing your powerful words and thoughts.

The need to express our feelings now is immense, you have said it very well Rudi, we must hope and believe at this time that the higher power will come soon and end the troubles of this sad world :)

Thank you, Richard, for reading and reviewing my writing. Have a good day. :) Rudi
Indeed, there is a litany of sorrow all across the world tonight. I don't believe there is a God that could ever stop such tragedies from happening, but there IS a God that promises to be with us, when they do.

Thank you for opening your heart so beautifully, Rudi!

I feel the same way Rudy. The God of the Old Testament was able to show his hand - writing on the walls. If he were to do the same - telling us all which religion is the one true one then it would surely end all religious wars and unite all mankind.
Your questions are probably being asked time and again among those in Paris and worldwide.
well penned Rudy.
