The New Autumn

The New Autumn

A Poem by NM Sarah

The shocking taste of the light glinting off the snow pricks my lips

My skin screams and puckers in the brightness of the crunchy air,

but I can’t bring myself to pull on my sweater

Wild and alive, I close my eyes to take it in

to not be deceived by lying, unknowing eyes

I hold my breath so I won’t disturb-

Everything knows its place in the pop and rustle around me

The sound of perfect symmetry as the universe complies

            -it always complies

Superb job with this piece. It's very intense, in the sense that even the first line makes you stop to think back to a time when oneself has stood outside and felt the reflecting sun on their lips. It does have a taste; but you'd be hard pressed to name it a flavor.

It takes you right outside. I love it!
