faces

faces

A Poem by S.E. Conway

 i look in the crowd

at this

yearbook dedication

i see people i've known

since my early education

'if the seniors would rise'

was announced through the room

 all of us stood

smiles

and tears

that this was really the end

how much we had changed,

the friends we had gained

who would have guessed

it would happen this soon?

when the ones who listened to n*sync

the last of the 9o's kids

matured over the course of 12 years

the relationships changed

the ways we knew each other gone forever

the way we once were

now just a memory

because we are who we R

only better, stronger, and wiser

but we can always become who we want become

the passion we have for each other

is outstanding

but as i look over the standing people

now men and women

instead of little boys, and little girls

i see how we have all changed

like people do

how some people are gone

some left

some taken

others changed

from a disaster

but the faces of the seemingly forgotten are there

standing with us

with smiles in line with the rest

awaiting the applause from the other classes

because we achieved so much

in what seemed like forever

but only a year

we will always be there

even if we are not seen the same way

but our world of 3,789.

just shattered as we

the class of 2008

jump into the real world

in stride with the ones before us

the artists, the lawyers, the doctors, the singers

the caring souls, the bullies

all pushed at the same time

to prove them selves worthy

we've done it guys...

no turning back

only forward motion

so take it with full speed

and as it says on our mimosan

WE

ARE

MORE

THAN

WE

R

Author's Note

S.E. Conway
for a note.. when ever 'r' is used, it is because i go to Roswell High School.... the yearbook staff used the R in the way just as used in the last few lines of this.

hoe you like it

and this is dedicated to Will carter, who is struggling to recover fully from last semesters car wreck, martain bulcrenegra, who was shot and killed during our freshman year- may his artistic soul rest in piece. and griffin brooks, who died from an over dosage induced coma, but his mother pulled the plug after 3 days- i love and miss you, as do the entire cottage school.
