Mermaid

Mermaid

A Poem by SPF

On my ship
In the sea
Behind a rock
Blue eyes I see
To my surprise
There is a maid
Bobbing
With the gentle waves
Her hair is long,
A firey red
That cascades down
Her charming head
I ask her;
“Sweet lady, why in the water you be?”
She replies;
“Because, kind sir, my home is the sea.”
And with that said
She shows her tail
A glittering jewel
For every scale
She sings a song
While she braids her hair
Never has anyone seen
A maid so fair
I say farewell
And wish her good day
But I watch her closely
As I sail away
She dives off the rock
With a flip and a splash
The last I see of her
Is the jeweled tails flash
Her beauty so entrancing
Her voice so sweet
She would be perfect
If she only had feet
