Elusive Inspiration

Elusive Inspiration

A Poem by Samantha
"

Blocked doesn't even begin to describe my state of mind.

"

I sat down today
Eager to create something new
Then it hit me hard
That I had no muse.

I had to let you go
Against my will
But I set you free
Now my writing is at a standstill.

How many times I've set in front of paper and pen
Or buzzing, empty computer screens
Only to come up short

To miss the inspiration
That used to surround me

Now, it hides from me
Seemingly mocking me.

But who do I blame?
Whose fault is it that a poet can't rhyme.

I tried to replace you
There've been other guys
But none of them had your smile
Or your peaceful eyes.

They've tried to amuse me
Some even attempted to please me
But all that confusion
Left me in one state of mind;

Simply and utterly unspired~
