Death Has Life's Gift

Death Has Life's Gift

A Poem by Sandra Caskey
"

Part three of my mini-series. Part one: Life and Death's Forbidden Love. Part two: She Only Saw Death. This is dedicated to Leelah Alcorn.

"
With centuries of forbidden love"
Incognito to the very glove"
Life has passed along gifts throughout time,
Hoping that Death will receive them in their prime.
The gift that is precious
Must be protected from any anguish"
Loved unconditionally
Forever to be cared for passionately
Breaking crimes of the century.
Obsessed with their illicit love, refusing it as a memory.
Life and Death consumed by a prohibited kiss.
Forced to separate ends, always to remember that kiss
As an unforgiving punishment
When a single kiss is overruled by the government.

Whatever gift that Life gives Death,
Never shall it be criticized for taking a breath.
A gift made from love will always be loved;
Never shall it be unloved.
Crafted from the finest threads of perfection,
It will always receive affection.
Desired for decades,
Finally received in tears falling in cascades.
Death has Life’s gift
And never shall it be judged and set adrift.
Unconditional love is just that"
No judgment, no ruling, no hatred"only that of love, which will never fall flat.
