A boy named Bo

A boy named Bo

A Poem by poetforlife

There you lay in the bassinet, the biggest boy around

you were sick and they needed to do some tests,

my heart hit the ground.

I walked the halls, couldn't be with you and heard my baby's cry

For those few days when you weren't so strong, I thought that I would die.

My precious baby Bo, that is what I called you then

I knew you would get better and I couldn't wait till when

I could hold you in my arms and sing sweet lullabies

I was so proud to have you, the joy of my life.

When you were a toddler, we had all day to play

you were my special friend and it's still that way today.

It was you and me against the world, you were surely mama's boy

and more and more the more you grow, you are my pride and joy.

Pride because of your sweet smile, the way you say, Love you mom

Joy because of all you bring to my life that I would've never known

Your kindness and your tender heart mean to me the most

You do your best at everything and for that I love to boast.

I wonder at the way you grow and your sweet, gently blue eyes

I can't believe you're almost grown, it breaks my heart inside

Just remember son, that I love you so, my words could never say

how proud I am to be your mom each and every day.

You've captured the essence of how the child becomes the focus of a mother's life.
The last stanza gives a subtle hint to the pangs of looming loss so poignantly. Wonderful!
Thank you

For some, motherhood comes to them naturally - for others, it's a struggle. You, my friend, are a natural and your son is a very fortunate little man. This piece reminds me so much of my own (single) mom, who I am still learning to appreciate more and more each day. That sounds a bit corny, but seriously... thanks for sharing this!
