Failure

Failure

A Poem by SaraJayne96
"

I know that everyone experiences failure at some point in their lifetime but it seems to happen too many times for too many people.

"
It's like being on a roller coaster,
Living life in the blink of another's eye.

Slowly being lifted into the heat of the sun,
Feeling as if you could almost fly.

After the peak and fleet exhilaration,
All hands raised, the fall must begin.

Faster and faster towards the lowest of lows,
A heart is racing while fear is starting to grin.

Feeling so helpless, with no one in sight,
Trying to slow the ride and bring life to a halt.

Nothing is working, everything is tried,
There is nothing to do, knowing who is at fault.

Spirits feel sick, wrong and unwanted,
Predicting the outcome of events in sight.

Helpless, powerless, lost and weak.
Afraid to lose what once brought light.

Trying to doctor what cannot be undone,
Only to see every mistake, every flaw.

Being the only person to blame,
Hatred digs in with its unyielding claw.

Cutting through the only filter,
that once kept the little monsters at bay.

After flailing and thrashing, what is there to do?
Understanding breaks through the barricade

Some shades are lighter, some may be darker.
There is no true color of gray.

Move one foot in front of the other,
Push forward, follow an uphill path.

Once hope is yet again found,
Look back at the chaotic wrath.

The only choice was to follow it down,
But let this question sink in.

Tell me, who was it? Who picked you up?
That took your hand, and taught you to play your violin?
