Beautiful LiesA Poem by Sarah Carswell
Tell me beautiful lies
Grace me with a bow and leave flower petals in my wake Let us play at reading minds Why not weave a story with gold? And wave it above our heads for all to see As if we are proud of what we have made Tell me of shallow sorrow Of tears shed in petty regret But keep the curtains closed Let us, for now, act out a play of happiness Of ever-afters and magic But forget to put in a villain And we will part ways with a smile Because until we meet again, eyes will only shine with tears And I will be too busy wailing to remember to laugh Tell me beautiful lies, like "it will be okay."
