Children Take On the World

Children Take On the World

A Poem by Sarah Kaitlyn Insko

Children Take On the World

He understands it, he really does.

Not a care in the world, but he loves it all.

His head jumps from place to place, yet he knows where he's going.

His eyes are filled with wonder, even though he's seen it before.

Always asking questions, he already knows the answer.

The little boy in the corner;

His pursed lips, wide eyes;

He's observing you, me, the world.

His sister, yes her,

The one with the book,

She knows much more than you.

She knows how to live, to dream, to wish, to imagine.

She's lived more than you.

Her dreams are bigger than yours.

Her wishes are sweeter than yours.

Her imagination can take her places you've never perceived or pondered before.

The pair of them could rule their own world.

They have the experience, even though they are small.

They have lived in, seen, and fought through wars.

They have experienced trial and tribulation.

They know what it's like to be, to just be.
