Your Hand In Mine

Your Hand In Mine

A Poem by Sarah Lynn
"

If you listen to the song by Explosions in the Sky... You'll get it. It's just so beautiful. Anyway. It reminds me of this person I met..

"
I didn't dare kiss
That strange boy
Because I couldn't bare for our first
To be our last

And now I'm up all night
Cocooning myself in fuzzy sheets
Dreaming of the lips
I never had

Your hand in mine
Explosions in the sky
That song he hummed to me
All through the night

My heart almost burst
My eyes almost drained
He was the only person that
Ever felt right

And I'm left slightly broken
Slightly aware
Of the fragile emptiness
In my microscopic heart

If only fate wasn't so cruel..
I wish the world would spin in reverse
And bring me closer to you
Right from the start

But that's not the way it goes
My blood never stops pounding
I won't let the dust
Grow on my bones

I've skipped in the mountains of Tennessee
And danced in the slums of Detroit
If I kept my body in motion
Then I never felt alone.
