Sarah and Lynn

A Poem by Sarah Lynn

Have I ever spun you the tale
Of Sarah?
The story of the girl
Who frowns, even when she smirks.
The girl whose deep eyes,
Hide behind alleyway shadows.

Have I told you of the way
Her hair fights with the breeze,
Of the way her heart
Twirls on the sills of windows?

Do you know her at all?
Have you seen her pass your way
On a busy street,
Only to glance back and realize
The girl you thought you saw
Was never there in the first place?

From what I've heard,
The moonlight shines through
Her pale skin
And her soul is zombiefied,
Resurrected.
She walks the paths at night
Undead, and unaware
Of the life she never lived.

Sarah was a girl
On a city street that I never
Learned the name of..
She caught my attention,
Struck up a conversation,
And conned me into adoring her.

Her first name Sarah
My middle name Lynn.
Together a pen name,
Together the person
I've always wanted to be

A combination of a stranger
And a friend.

In your homes,
On your screens,

But still, a mystery.

This is wonderful, a great character piece, and I love the final sentiment. Sometimes strangers are the most interesting people of all.
