Anxiety

Anxiety

A Poem by Tangie

It slithers up my spine like a snake through the night.... It creeps... Lurking from corner to corner.. Watching me... Observing me.. Like a predator observing its prey.. My hands start to shake, my stomach grips with fear.... It attacks me, consumes me, swallowing my most inner thoughts whole... I can feel the thick beating of my heart thumping against my chest.. I fight, gasping for air.. I close my eyes and I hear a faint whisper of my inner voice “breathe Tangie” “breathe Tangie” My body rocks like a rocking chair, beads of sweat drop from my face like rain falling from the sky... My heart beat starts to calm, my breathing starts to regulate... I can feel the monster slowly evaporating from my body. I open my eyes and that faint sweet voice whispers you are free....
