Suspense

Suspense

A Poem by Sazaku
"

"
Blossoms of summer
dance along a silky, shifting breeze,
a vortex of swirling blood red leaves.
                    Never quite still.
Above, the moon hangs
like a pearl, cupped in the outstretched palm
of the silvery, wispy clouds that engulf the sky.
                    Dancing lithely through the mist.
Halos of lunar radiance
shimmer like gilded crowns from the very tips
of their spears and shields, held high and waiting.
                    Never once moving.
Here I am just watching
as despair spreads like the plague through their hearts
their eyes drawn forcefully upwards by the sudden motion.
                    Praying in silent harmony.
Collectively, nothing
as if the whole world reached the apex of a deep breath
teetering on the razor's edge of suffocation and gluttony.
Then the dragon's fire devoured them all.

Thank you for reading it-- this is a favorite of mine, so it means that much more when someone else .. read more
I absolutely love this. You included such strong imagery and really powerful words. I really liked the metaphors used through out as well.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed my humble words.
I appreciate what you've done with a brilliant imagery, with such raw emotion, and a compelling writing structure that makes this both clever and unique from a pure writing perspective in my opinion. However, from an emotional perspective, this is such a poignant powerful piece with a such a deep somber tone that speaks volumes. Well done.
