Beseech the Stars

Beseech the Stars

A Poem by Sazaku
"

"
Whispers of a world beyond,
commune with the blessed gone.
Vivid bond until distant dawn-
the anvil to forge my words upon.

That unseen gate to me is barred;
sleep ever the stalwart guard.
It's hard to escape any war unscarred,
even tiptoeing 'round the graveyard.

What good are the fruits of Providence
when they shatter the mind in the process?
Did I blindly sanction this experiment-
has inspiration become an impediment?

Fatigue the ingredient,
anger the catalyst.
Dreams the sacrifice
for a forlorn paradise.

Soon comes the sun,
run before it's begun.
Take flight, friend.
I'll not ask again.

***

Radiant stars of mourning afar,
how I wonder where you are
when I need you, like I did this night;
a fragile light above this fight.

If ever I've earned Your benefaction.
if it meets Your sparing satisfaction,
grant me this once a brief reprieve.
So this weary heart can stop to breathe,
before finding another thread to weave.
