Shadow Waltz

Shadow Waltz

A Poem by Sazaku
"

"
A time of change,
the leaves enflamed.
Gently falling with the rain.
The winds today,
through eaves they play;
take me somewhere far away.
Enchanted skies,
free these cloudy lies,
help the memories crystallize.

The storm inside,
wrapped up in pale eyes
reaching out from the other side...

                                ...

                                ...

                                A king in chains,
                                 a sage deranged.
                                  Broken down, rearranged;
                                   hollow pawns in a child's game.

                                  Another shadow upon the earth
                                veiled in rags of sinful mirth.
                               Bespoken virtues of such worth-
                              stricken from the babe at birth.

                               Cracks in an ancient hourglass
                                reveal the features of a shapeless mask.
                                 Fashioned for the timeless task
                                  of fading into black with class.

                                Chisel a brick from the castle walls-
                               make it fall from all the holes I draw
                              in it's pointed, pristine, porcelain maw.
                             Consuming the ink I bleed just to crawl.

I liked the first part; I enjoyed the metre you employed in the lines. not many poets observe this subtle rule today.

so many fantasy elements here that bring me back to my adolescent. I used to be so into fantasy novels and writing them, my head would be full of elements such as these I've read. The second stanza while also giving fantasy like elements embodies elements of life and show connected fantasy is to life and the writing that serves as its bride.

The poem also made me feel a rush as I read that made me think of dancing. Not a waltz, but something romantic and fascinating still.

Thanks for posting!
