Footprints on the Sand

Footprints on the Sand

A Poem by Margarette
"

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.

As I walked through the sandy shores

I looked back

Expecting you there

Instead, I only saw a pair of footprints

That wounded dream I've had

Where I ended up lost so many times

I don’t ever want to sleep again

And realize I would be alone

I’m frightened

To open my eyes and shed tears

To stand up and feel pain

Just how much can I bear?

I drew a rainbow

Which I contrasted with views of the future

If someday I proceed to continue

This journey along that horizon

But it always get longer

It takes more time

The worries I felt

Seem to stretch on and on

Of the 7 billion people in the world

Can I be any different from them?

I wonder

If  I live the same way as them

I write and put words into songs

Where I think I may have heard your voice

Blending with my melody

As I’m nearing the end of the rainbow

I’m sure these great days we've had

Were so full of lessons

And that I have learned

To climb over those high walls

As I walked through the sandy shores

I looked back

Expecting you there

But I didn’t see you

Instead, you are beside me

Hand in hand

We walk through life

Forever bound by fate

Thanks for the review! I always love writing free-flowing thoughts.
A brief stroll through the Beach of one's existence.
A mark memorable imprinted in grains of sand,
A memory to linger onto when storms and cyclones threaten.
