Story of My Life

This is how the story goes,

Like a flower, the pain inside me grows and grows

Then it sits at the bottom of my stomach, boiling

And, in time, a plan in my mind starts unfolding

A plan to get back at all the people that have toyed with my heart,

Slowly but surely gnawing at it until it rips apart

I map out their demise,

Thinking about all the lies

They fed me.

It’s not fair, I want to scream

Sitting in a dark room, tears running down my face in a stream.

Then another thought comes to mind: How sweet their deaths would be,

Their blood running a long river down the ways as far as the eye could see

I’m almost all better then,

But my poor heart, it has yet to mend.

Turning to drinking isn’t an option, not so much anymore

Not since I found it helps a little, but it mostly burns my very core

Friends to help? But then I thought they wouldn’t want to be bothered

So, then it’s kind of awkward

Suicide? Self mutilation?

God, that’s stupid. Then I’d be like more than half the nation

With all their razors, knives, depressed souls yearning to feel that painful sensation

Like he said “Petals of a dead rose…the pain inside that no one knows…”

Well, that's the Story of my life: Every pain in the a*s that comes my way, I forever end up taking the blows.

I think it's safe to say that at some point everybody feels this way, but you were able to articulate it in such a way that this poem stood out from every other poem dealing with this subject. I can relate to it, it doesn't feel forced (I can tell you poured a ton of emotion into this), and that's what separates it.

Forget rhythm and rhyme. This piece is your soul digitally transferred. It's good that through so much pain, you're able to think rationally without turning to awful things.

Wow very amazing and emotional! I have friends who are like that and I can only help them so little :( But I'm glad you found your outlet through poetry! :)

Still love it. Truly excellent. You've been through too much. It's unfair... keep pushin' through, bud :)

Love this! The rhyme is excellent, as is the rhythm. Only one correction - 'knawing' is spelled 'gnawing'. Other than that, great! Another job well done :D

I like it a lot, a story of my life too!

I loved the music inside it, the excused and necessary cruelty. Good job :)

Hey. I used to be on here alot when I was 15. Now, not so much. I'm 18 now and I'm not nearly as depressing as I used to be, but still depressing enough. Message me and feel free to read my old poems... more..
